Job Description
A city government in Los Angeles County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead the Engineering Division of its Public Works Services Department.
As the Principal Civil Engineer, you will oversee a talented team of engineers and technical staff while managing a variety of public infrastructure projects. This leadership role is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of the Engineering Division, including capital improvement projects, civil design, water resources, and development review.
You ll bring strategic vision, technical expertise, and project management know-how to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated and creative professional to take on a key leadership role in shaping the city s infrastructure and delivering impactful public works projects.

Job Requirements
Experience:
- At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience
- At least two (2) years in a supervisory or project management role
Education:
- A Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Licenses/Certificates:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in California is required
- Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer is preferred
- Valid Class C California Driver s License (or ability to obtain upon appointment)
- At least five (5) years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience
- At least two (2) years in a supervisory or project management role
Education:
- A Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
