Job Description
A government agency in Los Angeles County is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Planning Manager to join its Community Development Department. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated professional to play a key leadership role in shaping the built environment, advancing housing and sustainability goals, and preserving the city s historic charm.
Under the administrative direction of the Community Development Director, the Planning Manager will lead the Planning Division, overseeing:
- Current and long-range planning functions
- Capital improvement projects
- Environmental review under CEQA
- Coordination with other City divisions, regional agencies, and the public
This is a management-level position distinguished by its broad responsibilities, policy-level decision-making, and leadership of complex planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, collaborative spirit, and visionary leadership.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Urban Design, or a related field is required
- Master s degree is highly desirable
Experience:
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional planning experience
- Experience must include analytical and administrative work within a government agency, preferably in a municipal setting
- Experience supervising staff or managing special projects is highly valued
