Job Description

A City Government in San Bernardino County is seeking a seasoned and well-rounded human resources professional to serve as its next Assistant Director, Human Resources/Risk Management. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources/Risk Management, this executive-level leader will oversee daily department operations, provide high-level strategic support, and serve as a key contributor on labor relations and risk management matters that shape the City s workforce and organizational culture.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university required. A Master s degree is preferred.

Experience:
- Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible human resources management experience in a California municipal agency.
- Five (5) years of management-level experience in labor relations and union negotiations.
- Three (3) years of management experience in risk management functions.
- Previous service as a Director, Assistant Director, or equivalent senior leadership role is required.

Certification: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification is highly desired.

Highly Valued: Knowledge of California collective bargaining laws and public sector HR best practices.
