PAY RATE RANGE: $55 to $65 per hour, DOE/DOQ.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in major planning and zoning functions and activities including General Plan implementation, current, advance and environmental planning. Participates in special planning, zoning and environmental studies; helps determine methods and procedures utilized in accomplishing assigned activities; helps coordinates activities with other sections, divisions or departments. Researches, analyzes, collects and interprets a wide variety of data relating to planning and zoning projects, land use, social economic and population matters; prepares, reviews and presents staff reports, technical studies, special projects and presentations for City Council, Planning Commission and other boards and commission. Participates in developing, planning and implementing department goals, objectives and priorities. Meets with developers, engineers, property owners, contractors and other individuals to discuss, advise, explain processes and suggest improvements regarding potential projects, pre-applications, development applications, feasibility analysis, conceptual development plans and code interpretation
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, public administration, architecture, economics, geography or a related field. A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field is preferred.
Considerable professional experience in urban planning encompassing advanced and/or current planning activities. Municipal planning experience in current planning is preferred.
LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATE:
Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desirable.
