We have a job opening for an Assistant Planner with a government agency in southern Los Angeles County, CA within the Planning Department. This is a full time position working for 4 months and can become permanent at the clients' discretion. Compensation is open DOE/DOQ.

JOB DUTIES:
Assistance in the general operations of a Planning Dept. Review and processing residential development applications for compliance with applicable regulations; follow up on project status throughout the review and construction stage. Field reviews of project compliance with conditions of Approval. Following up on code enforcement complaints, field investigations and assuring compliance. Assisting in the review and processing of view preservation applications. Report writing and public speaking to Commissions and Committees Preparing simple environmental assessment reports pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)Providing information to project applicants and to the public. Assisting the public in the interpretation of zoning, subdivision, building and State mandated regulations .Assisting in preparing and updating the zoning, building and subdivision ordinances. Assisting in drafting resolutions and ordinances. Working with consultants on special projects and other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, public administration, architecture, economics, geography or related field. A master's degree in a related field is preferred.

Three year of professional planning experience. Municipal planning experience is preferred.

LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATE:
Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desirable.
