A government agency in Monterey County, CA is looking for a Senior Planner to take over a vacant position within its Community Development Department. This position is to run full-time for 1 to 2 years and for the right individual could very likely become permanent. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

This agency is seeking a highly organized professional who is familiar with zoning ordinances, coastal development requirements, site plan and design reviews, public service counter operations, and planning permit procedures to manage the day-to-day operation and supervision of the Current Planning Division. The successful candidate will be a collaborative manager and a direct communicator with superior interpersonal and public relations skills. Their past work must demonstrate excellent project management and analytic skills.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Urban Studies, City and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Public Administration, or related field. A Master s degree in a related field and American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification are highly desirable. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience working for a California community in the current planning arena. Coastal permitting would be seen as a favorable asset. Must be comfortable managing a small team of current planners and administration positions. The position requires night meeting attendance and the individual should have considerable experience writing staff reports, reviewing others staff reports, making presentations to various boards and council.
