A government agency in Santa Clara County, CA area is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to take over a vacant position within its Accounting Division. Work schedule is 40 hours a week and position is to run for at least 3+ months and can very likely become permanent. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Prepares complex financial reports and analyses for submission to local, state and federal governmental agencies.
Directs and reviews the work of subordinate staff members.
Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers.
Prepares journal vouchers for adjusting and correcting accounting records.
Balances accounts.
Prepares year-end adjusting and closing entries.
Maintains complete financial records.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Considerable professional accounting experience preferably with a municipal government, graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in accounting, and some experience supervising and coordinating the work of subordinate staff members.
