A government organization in San Mateo County, CA is looking for a Senior Accountant to fill a position vacancy. This is a full-time position working for at least 3+ months and can very likely become permanent at the clients discretion. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prepares complex financial reports and analyses for submission to local, state and federal governmental agencies.
Directs and reviews the work of subordinate staff members.
Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers.
Prepares journal vouchers for adjusting and correcting accounting records.
Balances accounts.
Prepares year-end adjusting and closing entries.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Considerable professional accounting experience preferably with a municipal government, graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in accounting, and some experience supervising and coordinating the work of subordinate staff members.
