A progressive government organization in Kern County, CA is looking for a Public Works Director who will serve as head of the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position but can also be part-time with a duration of 3-6 months and can become permanent at the clients discretion. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

Plans, organizes, manages, and provides administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the Public Works Department, including streets and traffic control, storm drain maintenance, water distribution, sewer collection, wastewater treatment operations and maintenance, solid waste, and fleet maintenance; fosters cooperative working relationships among agency departments and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to agency management staff in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be Equivalent to a Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public works, business administration, or a related field and seven (7) years of responsible public works services experience, including five (5) years of management experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid CA Drivers License with clean driving record
