We have a job opening for a Principal Planner with a government organization in the Contra Costa County, CA area. This is a full-time position working 40+ hours per week for 3+ months. Compensation is open, DOE/DOQ.

Plans, organizes, and coordinates an assigned aspect of the City s land-use planning and zoning, transportation planning, or housing programs.
Supervises, directs, mentors, reviews, and evaluates the performance of professional and technical staff, and participates in the development and management of land use, environmental, transportation planning, housing, and/or urban design projects and programs; assigns, coordinates, and monitors the progress of projects assigned to staff; administers contracts and oversees work of consultants.
Reviews and approves plans, discretionary permit applications, and related staff reports.
Designs research studies, gathers, analyzes, and interprets data relating to local social, economic, population, housing, development, environmental, transportation, zoning, and/or land use issues; recommends changes to applicable City codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Develops, prepares or directs the preparation of, and presents comprehensive reports, studies, and development proposals; provides planning, zoning, transportation planning, and/or housing information to applicants, property owners, other City departments, public and private agencies, and the general public.
Provides staff and technical support to assigned City Commissions; may act as Secretary to one or more of these Commissions;
A Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, transportation planning, housing, architecture, public administration, or a related field, and a minimum of four years of extensive professional experience in the assigned field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. Supervisory experience, a Master's degree in a related field, and American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification are all highly desirable.
