PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, coordinates, and prepares and administers the budget for the Parks and Recreation Department, including arts education, performing arts, arts exhibition, museum programs, all recreation programs, and directs facilities operations.
Analyzes community arts and recreation program needs and desires, availability of resources, existing programs, and other factors in developing departmental programs; prepares or directs the preparation of proposals concerning departmental activities for consideration by the General Manager, including grant proposals.
Serves as executive secretary and provides administrative support for Agency commissions or committees; coordinates activities of the Department with those of school districts, art associations, and other agencies; meets with community leaders and groups to review policies of the Department and promote involvement and assistance in conducting programs; monitors and directs departmental promotional efforts.
Establishes general policies, procedures, and guidelines to be observed by departmental staff; resolves citizen complaints or problems concerning activities of the Department which cannot be handled by subordinates; coordinates activities of the Department with those of other Agency departments.
