An established organization in the L.A. County region is looking for an experienced Office Assistant to join its Administration Department to fill a position vacancy for roughly 5 months. This is full-time position and is covering someone out on FMLA, so it will not likely go permanent. That being said, some workers do not come back from such leave so the opportunity for this to go permanent is remotely possible. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

Receives telephone calls and visitors for the City Clerk, ascertains nature of business and directs either to the general manager or, where feasible, to another appropriate authority for disposition; schedules appointments for and with the general manager; arranges and confirms meetings with the City Council and numerous other official and community bodies; makes travel assignments.Supervises and trains subordinate clerical personnel and serves as office manager.Establishes and implements complex and varied office practices, forms and procedures.Takes and transcribes complex oral and machine dictation; composes correspondence; types a variety of reports materials; prepares special reports from source material in files; develops and maintains a complex filing system which includes confidential material.Participates in budget preparation and maintains budget accounts.Answers inquiries requiring interpretations of municipal policies, rules and regulations.Prepares agendas and material for various meetings and conferences; takes and transcribes minutes; distributes copies as directed.
Experience working for a municipality highly desirable, preferably 4+ years.
Valid CA Drivers License & Good Driving Record
