We have a wonderful opportunity to serve a municipal agency in Santa Barbara County as an interim Library Director. This position will run for 2-6 months while they run the recruitment for the permanent position (to which you would have ability to pursue if that is your interest).

The Library Director will have oversight of three different library branches. You should have the following skill set:

Desire to meet and serve the library's user community
Ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised systems, procedures, and work flow
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
Knowledge of computers, the internet, and commercially available library software
Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and present ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form
Ability to make administrative decisions, interpret policies, and supervise staff
Ability to motivate, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, volunteers, other community agencies and the public
Knowledge of the philosophy and techniques of library service
Ability to organize job duties and work independently

Compensation is DOE/DOQ. If you do not live in the area and would need to relocate for the assignment, there is ability for additional compensation to offset such costs.
Having a Master's in Library Science is preferred but not a must for the interim position. This position demands that our candidate have served either as a Library Director, City Manager or HR Director for a municipality. Must have a valid drivers license.
