A government organization in Sacramento County, CA area is looking for a Community Development Director to fill a position vacancy in the Planning Division. This position is looking to run for three to six months with oppurtunity to become permanent at the clients discreation. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervision/oversight of staff, including Planning, Engineering, Code Enforcement and Public Works.
Analyze and interpret social, economic, population and land use data and trends;
Prepare written and graphic reports on various planning matters and elements of the general plan;
Provide technical assistance in the analysis, coordination and implementation of environmental requirements and regulations;
Compile information and make recommendations on special studies;
Make public presentations, to the council, various commissions, boards, committees and community groups;
Research and draft ordinances for review;
Review rezoning, variance, conditional use permit, subdivision, design review and other related applications;
Advise property owners and the general public of the effect and implications of land use, zoning, and development actions;
Review development proposals for consistency with local general plan, zoning and design standards;
Respond to complaints and requests for information from the public;
Manage consultant contracts for environmental and other planning documents and oversee consultant work.
Related duties as assigned
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, public policy, urban planning or a field related to the work and five years of managerial or administrative experience in a municipal setting. Possession of a Master s Degree in a field noted above may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid
California class C driver s license and a satisfactory driving record.
