A local.government agency in southern Riverside County is looking for an experienced Community Development Director to join its Development Services Department. The expected duration for this position is at least 6+ months. This is full-time position and can be extended or made permanent at clients discretion. Compensation is open, DOE/DOQ.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Planning/Redevelopment and Building Divisions of the Development Services Department.
Supervises and participates in the preparation of.comprehensive reports based upon careful research and study of planning, redevelopment and building problems.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of professional, technical, and clerical personnel engaged in the.compilation, analysis and interpretation of data affecting.community planning and development.
Prepares and administers the agency's comprehensive general plan within established policies and pro.edures.
Assigns professional assistants to specific surveys and.community planning projects; supervises the.compilation of materials and the writing of reports pursuant to such surveys.
Directs preparation of zoning ordinances and zoning maps, and the revision of such ordinances and maps.
Serves as technical advisor to the Planning Commission, General Manager, Board of Directors, and department heads on planning and zoning problems.
Serves as Executive Director of the agency s Redevelopment Agency.
Attends Board of Directors Meetings and Redevelopment Agency Meetings and study sessions.
Represents the Planning Commission at public meetings and at conferences with other public and private groups.
Coordinates private development with the city service and supervises the progress of redevelopment projects and public projects.
Interprets departmental policies and.governing codes and regulations to departmental employees.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Extensive progressively responsible experience in the fields of city planning, redevelopment and closely related fields, with considerable supervisory and administrative experience, and graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in planning, public administration, engineering, the social sciences, or related fields. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) are also preferred.

REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL LEVELS:
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal redevelopment and planning.
Extensive knowledge of laws and ordinances affecting the planning, development, and zoning processes.
Thorough knowledge of economics, engineering, municipal finance, sociology and other related subjects as applied to city planning.
Relevant knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to and affecting California community redevelopment and development, including property acquisition, funding and financial methods, disposal, rehabilitation and relocation
