A government organization in San Diego County, CA is looking for a Building Inspector to fill a position vacancy. This is a full-time position working for at least 3 to 6+ months and can very likely become permanent at the clients discretion. Compensation is DOE/DOQ.

Inspects new construction for possession of permits; checks for conformity with building codes and approved plans and specification requirements; soil conditions, excavations, setbacks, foundation; and all phases of residential, commercial and industrial construction with emphasis in plumbing and mechanical aspects of construction.
Inspects all aspects of construction including new construction, existing construction and complaint of violations relating to building, zoning and municipal codes.
Issues notices to persons involved where violations to installations are found to be defective; and makes recommendations on correct methods of installation.
Reviews plans and specifications for compliance with the municipal code; confers with contractors concerning installations and correction of work done; consults with supervisors relative to procedures to be followed in cases that are not clearly covered by the electrical code; and confers with owners or with their agents concerning electrical installations where alterations are contemplated or are in progress.
Inspects sewer installations, swimming pools, and fire sprinkler systems, for compliance with codes and regulations.
Checks complaints in regard to defective installations; assists in prosecution of violators of regulations; reviews complaints; and coordinates with Health Department inspectors for appropriate action and cooperates with Fire Department inspectors.
Four years experience at the journey level in inspection or the construction trade with emphasis in construction, structural, electrical, plumbing or mechanical and engaged in a wide variety of construction and installation work.
Graduation from high school. College course work in Civil Engineering, Architecture or, Mechanical engineering is desirable.
